The University of Maine at Augusta, located in Augusta, Maine, is a part of the University of Maine System.

History

The University of Maine at Augusta was established in 1965 as a continuing education division of the University of Maine. In September, 1967, it was approved as a campus of the University of Maine and began offering day and evening classes.

Academics

The University of Maine at Augusta is divided into three primary academic units or colleges: Arts & Humanities, Mathematics & Professional Studies, and Natural & Social Sciences. Each college is an academic division of the university, which through its dean has administrative responsibilities. Colleges are organized into departments/programs, each representing an academic discipline (e.g. Architecture, Mathematics, and Nursing) or a related set of disciplines (e.g. Business, Humanities, and Natural Sciences). The university is noted nationally for offering an online baccalaureate degree in information and library science.

Athletics

UMA is active in many sports, such as men's and women's basketball, hockey, baseball, softball, swimming / diving, and soccer. UMA is an accredited member of the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC)in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA).
