Our service area includes 13 counties and hosts 29 independent school districts – proof that we touch many lives, both young and old, in our efforts to provide a top quality higher education option in West Texas. We have varied educational opportunities available to meet the ever-changing needs of all learners through our four campuses: Big Spring, Lamesa, San Angelo and Southwest Collegiate Institute for the Deaf (SWCID).

Our top rate faculty and staff are eager to help all learners reach their educational goals, whatever they may be. Howard College offers basic core or occupation-specific classes for students who want to begin or rekindle their higher education experience. Still other classes are available for professionals wanting to sharpen their skills or possibly make a career change.

Campus student activities are a big part of college life. There are several ways for you to become involved in the Howard College activities – but most importantly we want your participation and ideas! You can attend events or participate in various club activities available on your campus. We are constantly striving to provide programming that is current and meets the needs of today’s students. We welcome your comments and suggestions as we improve our services to you. Howard College, located on a spacious campus at 1001 Birdwell Lane in Big Spring, Texas, offers a wide variety of associate degree plans and certificate programs spanning areas of study such as agriculture, business, cosmetology, criminal justice, dental hygiene, general studies, information technology and nursing.

For students wishing to transfer to a four year university after completion at Howard College, course offerings are abundant and include areas of study like Biology, Chemistry, Drama/Theater, Economics, Education, Foreign Language, History, Mathematics, Music, Psychology and Sociology, just to name a few. Howard College (officially, Howard County Junior College) is a community college with its main campus in Big Spring, Texas and branch campuses in San Angelo and Lamesa.

As defined by the Texas Legislature, the official service area of Howard College is Howard, Dawson, Martin, Glasscock, Sterling, Coke, Tom Green, Concho, Irion, Schleicher, Sutton, Menard, and Kimble Counties.
