Description
Southwestern College is a private liberal arts college affiliated with the United Methodist Church. The campus is situated in the rural community of Winfield, Kansas, about 40 miles outside of Wichita.
In contrast to its location, however, Southwestern is a very technologically inclined institution. The school gives Dell laptops to all incoming freshmen, updating to the latest model every two years. Laptop learning is a cornerstone of Southwestern College’s academics. Students use their laptops in class and for research and writing, but also for online communication with professors and classmates outside of class.
Southwestern College’s academics include over 40 concentrations, including several graduate programs. The Leadership concentration, which is available at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, is especially unique. Designed to help you succeed in any field, this degree program teaches leadership and management skills through a project-based curriculum.
In addition to the Winfield campus, Southwestern College also has an online campus. Southwestern College Professional Studies is geared toward professionals and military servicepeople who are unable to take classes in person. The school also has physical locations in East and West Wichita, McConnell Air Force Base, Fort Riley, and Oklahoma City.
