Description
The goal of the American Career College of Hair Design in Berwyn, Illinois, is to prepare students for work in the beauty industry as a cosmetologist or nail technician. Upon graduation, students will be ready to take the examination required by the Illinois State Board of Education.
The college is institutionally accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools.
American Career College uses rolling admissions, so students may register any day. Classes begin twice a month, so you can enter the next program at your soonest convenience.
The cosmetology track is a 1,500 program that will equip students with basic skills necessary for the career, like:
- Hair cutting
- Shampooing and rinsing
- Hair coloring
- Chemical waving and relaxing
- Hair removal
- Manicures
- Pedicures
The nail technician program is a 350 hour program that teaches the techniques of nail beautification, artistry, and airbrushing. At the end of the program, you’ll become knowledgeable about and skillful in:
- Airbrushing
- Nail art
- Artificial nails (nail tips, sculptured nails, and nail wrapping)
- Sanitation
- Manicures
- Pedicures
A continuing education course is also available to students who may have failed the state exam or want to refresh their skills. This program is 250 hours.
Financial aid is available to those who qualify, mostly through federal sources via the FAFSA.
