LMU Description

For over a century, Lincoln Memorial University has provided students with a small private university experience in a rural setting. Located in Harrogate, Tennessee, about 55 miles north of Knoxville, the school sits at the juncture of Virginia, Kentucky, and Tennessee.

Per its namesake, Lincoln Memorial has one of the largest collections of Abraham Lincoln memorabilia in the world. These items are housed at the Abraham Lincoln Library and Museum, which features numerous exhibits and a book collection of over 30,000.

Academics at LMU are marked by small classes and individualized attention. The average class size is under 20, so you won’t just be a face in a lecture hall. The 1,000-acre campus provides an intimate learning environment, containing just 35 buildings in a forested setting.

Lincoln Memorial’s student life is a product of its location. The school offers easy access to natural attractions like the Cumberland Gap. Student activities take advantage of this beautiful campus environment; for example, the High Adventure Series offers a variety of outdoor recreation opportunities. Monthly “Destination Excursions” take students on short trips near LMU to take part in mountain biking, rafting, skiing, rock climbing, and more.
