< CollapsePacific University is a private university located in Forest Grove, Oregon, United States about 38 km (23 mi) west of Portland.
Pacific University traces its origins to a private school, the Tualatin Academy, which was established in 1848 to care for orphans from the 1846 Applegate Trail party, and was officially chartered by the territorial legislature in 1849. Tabitha Brown, a pioneer emigrant from Massachusetts who was in that 1846 party, helped start the academy, and later taught at the academy. Eliza Hart Spalding, part of the Whitman Mission, was its first teacher. The current campus was deeded in 1851.
The central building on the Pacific campus is Marsh Hall, built in 1895 and named for Pacific's first president, Sidney Harper Marsh. It houses several classrooms, in addition to administrative offices, including the financial aid office, president's office, University Relations, and faculty offices. Marsh Hall was gutted by fire in 1975, but its shell was preserved, and the structure reopened in 1977.
Dr. Phillip D. Creighton became Pacific's sixteenth president in August 2003.
In national surveys, Pacific University has consistently received high ratings in the category of private regional liberal arts universities with a limited range of graduate programs. The majority of its students are resident undergraduates in the College of Arts and Sciences.
At the graduate level, Pacific University is probably best known for its College of Optometry, but also offers graduate programs in several allied health fields via its College of Health Professions in physical therapy, occupational therapy, physician assistant studies, professional psychology, dental health science, and pharmacy.
Pacific also has a full range of undergraduate liberal arts degree programs and a College of Education. The College of Education offers an undergraduate major in early childhood education and elementary education. There are also a number of graduate education programs including MAT/MAT Flex, MAT Special Education and M.Ed. in Curriculum Studies and a joint program with the Optometry school in visual function in learning.

I want to become a pharmacist!
Any of you go to UOP in Stockton? Is it hard to get in? What were your scores on the SATs?

I'm not sure about the pharmacy school, but while you do need DECENT scores to get in, its nothing crazy like Stanford in terms of the scores you need. I got average math and advanced english scores for my regular SAT's. Word to the wise- to place for math and science, etc, you have to have taken SAT II's- they don't accept the math from the regular SAT test for math either. But, the placement test was easy, I thought, for the math. Good luck! I love UOP! The application is free- so it can't hurt to apply, either way. Good luck.

University of the Pacific is certainly a good school. They are pretty strong in computer science and they dont have visual communication as a major, but they do have just communication. Have you toured around UOP yet? If not they will have an open house soon(around oct. or nov). UC Berkeley have a national reputation, but UOP does not. I have heard of some stories of computer science majors at UOP before. They did some co-ops during their course of study and they had a job offer for him before he graduated. UOP is very good at helping their students look for jobs, but Berkeley is so big that it is not really possible to do that for their students. UOP focuses more on the students as it is a private college. Tuition is higher but if you qualify for FAFSA it will be quite cheap. You can also try to apply for the CIP program if you are 1st generation college student. There are many benefits of attending this institution. Transfering from delta to either schools are pretty easy, but I think you still have to work on your personal statment. Right now maybe you dont have to worry about it yet. You still have time. If you do end up with a hard time choosing, then you can always go to the transfer/career office and seek for advice there.
Hope this may help you! Good luck!

I am a sophmore who had a 4.0 both freshman year and first semester sophmore year. However, I might get a C in math, but the rest As. I want to go to the dentistry program there

There's different undergraduate dental programs; you may get into one (such as the 3 + 3 program) but not the most competitive one (the 2 + 3 program). If you keep your grades where they are, you'll remain a candidate for all of them--although they look very tough to get into, so keep your options open.
One C in math is not going to kill you. But as dentistry is very science (and therefore, math) based, consistent, across-the-board C's is not going to look good. Make your weak subject your top priority the next few years. Good luck.

Do you want to live on the East Coast or West Coast? That's really all it boils down to. They don't have national reps.
I know UOP has several combined programs with their grad schools so if you're interested in one of those, UOP might be attractive if Northeastern doesn't have similar programs. Otherwise, just pick which location you want to live in.
