West Virginia Northern Community College's mission is to provide postsecondary educational opportunity for all citizens in the Northern Panhandle's six counties to develop a competent district workforce which can compete in a global economy, and to respond to cultural and civic interests and needs of the communities it serves.
To this end, the College is committed to collaboration, coordination, and optimal use of available resources to develop, acquire, and make accessible high quality, low cost programs and services which are responsive to the needs of its citizens and employers of educational and training opportunities, financial assistance, job placement, and through effective, user friendly delivery systems.
West Virginia Northern Community College (WVNCC, or simply "Northern") is a public, multi-campus community college with the main campus located in downtown Wheeling, West Virginia. The main campus is housed in the former Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Terminal at Wheeling. Established in 1972, WVNCC delivers a comprehensive, two-year degree program for all six counties in West Virginia's Northern Panhandle. In addition to the main campus, WVNCC has branches in Weirton, WV and New Martinsville, WV. The college is known throughout the Ohio Valley to have very reasonable tuition while still maintaining a high quality of education.
