College Advice |
Question: Is the Vet Tech Institute a good school?I have toured this school and it is very nice. They said that I do not need to go to a 2 or a 4 year college and I do not have to take the ACT or the SAT to go to their school. All I have to do is graduate from high school and they will look at my grades from high school and I have to answer two essay questions to see whether or not I get accepted but they said that the reason most people don't get accepted is because of there grades in high school. Also they help you find a job and through them you could become a RVT(registered veterinary technician). The program is for 18 months and during the last two months you will be working with certified veterinarians. And after the course you will be able to take the State Exam to be a RVT. Oh and for the whole 18 months the tuition is 30,000 dollars for the whole thing not per semester or year. So from what I heard when I went there it is a great school no SAT's or ACT's and no 2 or 4 year college :) . But someone told me that colleges advertised on TV are not good colleges to go to and that school is not such a good school to go to. If there are any other Vet Tech schools that you know of please feel free to let me know. Thanks in advance for answering my questions :)12 months ago
Best AnswerAs long as it's AVMA accredited you're fine. If it's the one in Illinois, then yes it's AVMA accredited. You wouldn't be able to take the state boards if it wasn't. Vets don't really care where you went to school as long as it was an accredited program and you passed the national and state boards. If you'd like to double check here's the list of accredited programs. http://www.avma.org/education/cvea/vettech_programs/allprograms.asp |
