Cuyahoga Community College (also known as Tri-C) is a two-year college in Cuyahoga County, Ohio. Founded in 1962, Cuyahoga Community College is the first community college in Ohio, and is currently the fourth largest college in terms of academic enrollment. The institution operates on the "One College" concept, where classes and educational services are offered equally at all campus locations.
Cuyahoga Community College schedules on the semester basis, and offers over 1,000 courses in associate degree programs through traditional classroom settings. CCC also provides distance learning service through web based instruction, telecourses, and its flagship distance learning offering known as Cable College. Cable College has offered classes live through the Cleveland area cable companies since the early 1990s, providing a fully interactive, live learning experience for the student at home. The institution promotes academic advancement through transfer articulation agreements with four-year colleges and universities. Cuyahoga Community College is accredited through North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, and has been the recipient of numerous awards from the American Association of Community Colleges (formerly the American Association of Junior & Community Colleges). Scholarships are provided to CCC students through the Cuyahoga Community College Foundation. The current president is Dr. Jerry Sue Thornton.
Cuyahoga Community College operates a three campus college district in Northeast Ohio. With Cuyahoga County as its primary service area, CCC serves Cleveland and the surrounding communities with the Metropolitan Campus in downtown Cleveland, Western Campus in Parma, and Eastern Campus in Highland Hills. CCC houses its district administrative services at a separate location from the Metropolitan Campus in downtown Cleveland.
CCC also operates Corporate College business training facilities in Westlake and Beachwood, as well as its Workforce and Economic Development Division (based in the Unified Technologies Center) next to the Metropolitan Campus in Downtown Cleveland.
