Looking to begin a career in the funeral service profession in as little as 12 months? The Worsham College of Mortuary Sciences in Wheeling, Illinois, offers accredited diploma and associate’s degrees that may be of interest to you.
Worsham’s academics are designed to prepare students for licensure in the state in which they intend to practice. Its Mortuary Science diploma and associate’s degree contain the same curriculum, but have different admissions requirements that are shaped around your career goals.
Mortuary Science is a vast study, which is why Worsham offers a comprehensive curriculum, featuring courses in Accounting, Pathology and Speech Communications in addition to its direct funeral arts courses like Restorative Art, Funeral Directing and Embalming.
When you’re not studying, you can take advantage of all that Chicago has to offer. The school provides information on art, attractions, community events, museums and festivals so that your college life may be enriched by the dynamic city.
Tuition does not include the cost of textbooks or laboratory fees, but you can apply for financial aid. Forms of aid available to eligible students include Pell grants, Stafford loans and scholarships from many funeral service organizations.
Students may apply at any time throughout the year, although admissions are determined in March and September. Applications are available online.
