Description

Multicultural education and a commitment to social progress is what East-West University in Chicago, Illinois offers its students. Departments at East-West include Business, Computer Science, Biological Sciences, Engineering, Math, English and Behavioral Sciences, with specialized degrees in such areas as Neurotechnology and Polysonography.

East-West was founded with a mission to educate students from minority backgrounds. While they still mostly educate those from traditionally underrepresented ethnic groups and races, students of all backgrounds are welcome.

Since one of its commitments is to executing social change and justice among minority and disenfranchised communities, all programs and subjects are taught from that perspective.

Student life at East-West is also focused on multiculturalism, with many student organizations primarily focusing on a cultural or ethnic identity. The year is divided up into three quarters at East-West. Since students are admitted on a rolling basis, once accepted students may begin attending East-West during the spring, winter or fall.

Many students at East-West require financial aid in order to attend the university. Such need-based aid is offered to eligible students and includes scholarships and loans.
