History

Emmanuel College was founded in 1919 as the Franklin Springs Institute in Franklin Springs, GA. In its first years it taught high school courses grades eight through eleven and three college level courses. The first buildings were two hotels and a skating rink. In 1931, the college was forced to close for two years during the Great Depression. When the school reopened the new president, Thomas Aaron, began to refocus the institutes priorities from being a high school to a college. In 1939, the name was changed to Emmanuel College and the high school was called Emmanuel Academy.

The year 1967 saw the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools grant the two year college full accreditation. In 1991, the school was granted four-year accreditation.

The school is continuing to support the Georgia Accel Program with the courses of Pre-Calculus, Calculus, English 101, and English 102.

I feel that Emmanuel college is better because you need an average of 3.0 GPA to be admitted. On the other hand, I'm not sure about Suffolk. All i know is that i applied as a freshman with a 2.5 GPA(Suffolk) and got in. This was 2 years ago. Now I'm a junior and i transfer to Northeastern University in the fall.
I checked their website and there doesn't seem to be any GPA or any requirements at that. I'm interested in the Psychology field, something along health or clinical. Can someone tell me where I can find these requirements? Also, since this is a Catholic-funded school and I am not Catholic, does this mean I shouldn't apply there? My family is Muslim and if I have to take religious classes I refuse to go there.

When looking at their website I checked out their frequently asked questions concerning admissions, here is a link to that and a quote regarding GPA: "We do not have "cut offs" for students applying to Emmanuel. The Admissions Office reviews folders on an individual basis. If you have questions about your credentials, you should discuss them with an Admissions Counselor. The average profile for an entering student is a high school GPA of 3.3 and SAT scores of 1060. We do not require SAT II, but if you have taken them, you should submit them." http://www.emmanuel.edu/Undergraduate_Admissions/FAQs.html If you follow the above link they do have a link on that site to their evaluation process which talks about what an application needs to include: http://www.emmanuel.edu/x2220.xml They do have a core curriculum, and yes some of these classes will be religous. However when scanning through their are many none Catholic courses and more general religious studies courses that are available. Here is a link to their core curriculum, look it over and see if you're comfortable with it: http://www.emmanuel.edu/Academics/General_Requirements.html Best of luck
