The mission of Los Angeles Harbor College is to provide comprehensive educational programs which meet the educational needs of students and are appropriate and useful to the community we serve, including: academic programs, vocational and workforce preparation, basic skills instruction, English as a second language, adult noncredit courses for life-long learning, customized corporate training, contract education, community services, and support services.

An essential aspect of the mission for the community we serve is to advance economic growth and global competitiveness through education, training, and services that contribute to continuous workforce improvement.

Los Angeles Harbor College

Los Angeles Harbor College (LAHC) is one of two community colleges serving the South Bay region of Los Angeles. LAHC serves mainly students from Harbor City, Carson, San Pedro, Gardena, Lomita, Wilmington and the Palos Verdes Peninsula.

LAHC accommodates over 8,000 students per semester, and is located between Wilmington and Harbor City, the heart of the Los Angeles harbor region.

Demographics

As of 2004, 73% of LAHC's population were part-time students, with 27% describing themselves as full-time. The school population is 37% male and 63% female.

Programs

LAHC offers, like most community colleges in the state of California, programs for students to eventually transfer to a four-year university as well as occupational training programs in business and office administration, electronics technology, computer technology, and nursing. The college also offers a program for international students.

i want to study film and maybe music tech but which college would be better. But then i want to transfer into a larger college like USC. Which college would be better to do this? Any other collegese anyone can think of is ok.

Best Answer
Academically you are better off enrolling directly into USC and/or UCLA than going to a community college first. However, I know nothing of your background and it might make more sense for you to go to community college first. Both LAHC and LACC are great community colleges. I would personally recommend LAHC just because it is smaller, but if you want more diversity on the courses you can take then you should go to LACC. Good Luck!!!
