Buffalo State College From Wikipedia, The Free Encyclopedia

Buffalo State College, often referred to colloquially as Buff State, is a public, liberal arts college in Buffalo, New York and is part of the State University of New York. It is the largest four-year college in the SUNY system, though other state universities in the system are larger. Buffalo State was founded in 1871 as the Buffalo Normal School and later became the Buffalo Normal and Training School, then New York State Teachers College at Buffalo.

There are approximately 9,000 undergraduate and 2,100 graduate students enrolled. Of those who are currently enrolled, a majority of the college consists of students who commute rather than those who reside on campus. Students both in and out of state, as well as international, are a foundation of the student body. Because of the numerous places of origin of its students, Buffalo State is known for its diversity on campus.

Buffalo State has 130 programs in liberal arts and science, technology, and education. It continues its tradition of training teachers in many areas (Art, Technology, Social Science, Natural Sciences, Mathematics).

Buffalo State is located on Elmwood Avenue in the northwestern part of Buffalo. The campus is located within a short walk from the Albright-Knox Art Gallery , the Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society, and Delaware Park.

Unique programs offered at Buffalo State include: Adult Education, Art Conservation, Creative Studies, Engineering Technology, Fashion and Textile Technology, Fiber Design, and Forensic Chemistry. Buffalo State College was the first school in the world to grant a master of science degree of Creativity. The college also now offers an undergraduate minor in Creative Studies. This is facilitated by the International Center for Studies in Creativity, which is housed on campus.

The associated research center, the Great Lakes Center, conducts research with a facility on the Niagara River and a fleet of small craft.

I love the buffalo campus. I dont go there but my best friend does and hopefully I will go next year. I am senior this year. buffalo is a really exciting city and so is the campus. plattsburgh is much smaller then UB so if u prefer a small school then go there.
I have a GPA avg of 2.9 and im dying to transfer. So I want to apply to CUNY Hunter, SUNY Buffalo State, Richmond Unvers. in VA, Virginia Tech in VA. Can I just try to apply or just wait a lil longer. Also I wrote VAtech and they said they accept gpa of a minimum of 3.0 but on the site it said 2.5. I need some help so Buffalo would take me then

I think that a 2.9 GPA is too low for VT I believe since its a technical school mainly. and basically how it comes on the site doesn't matter because its a range and it can always change depending on how the applications that VT recieves. I think personally that this years senior class is going to be abit higher on GPA's and SAT's. You should go to SUNY Buffalo or SUNY Cortland. Do well there and try to get a 3.6+ GPA then transfer during soph. year.

While I don't know specifically about that program, I do know from my family in Buffalo that Buffalo/SUNY is a great school. Utica College also has some great programs along the same lines with following Masters programs, and a number of them are available on-line. (I'm currently in their MBA Economic Crime & Fraud Management program on-line, for example.)
I live on Long Island and i am a senior in HS. My options for next year are SUNY Buffalo, and SUNY Albany. I plan to major in business and both schools have a great 5 year MBA program. I am also a huge sports fan which Buffalo basicially sucks and Albany has been in the NCAA basketball tournament 2 straight years and their lacrosse is sick this year. I originaly liked the idea of a big campus, but I am starting to like Albany. My parents are leaning towards Buffalo. I know a lot of upperclassmen and alumni from Albany and not so much from Buffalo.

My own feeling is that SUNY Buffalo is actually the better school. And while Albany has the attractions which come with being a state capital Buffalo is actually a much more attractive and cultured city than some of its detractors would parody it. Further, if you are a sports fan, Buffalo does have professional teams in two major sports and one of the most entertaining AAA baseball franchises in America.
