Bill Allen’s Pocono Institute of Taxidermy is the perfect institute for residents of White Haven, Pennsylvania, seeking to learn basic and advanced taxidermy. This school offers both weekend and night classes for students who are unable to attend full-time classes.

This school has two academic routes to choose from: the 12-week course and the 15-week course. Students who choose the 12-week course will learn all phases of basic taxidermy for birds, fish and big game, in addition to mounting 17 specimens.

The advanced 15-week course includes the basic 12-week training in addition to an emphasis on difficult mounts, sculpting clay armatures and mounting wild turkeys. Individuals who choose the 15-week course will mount the following 24 specimens: five birds, one turkey, eight fish, two game fish and one trout, two game heads, one large game head, one small mammal, one medium mammal, one large mammal and one rug.
