LIU Description

Though it offers limited undergraduate academics, Long Island University’s Brentwood campus functions primarily as a graduate school. LIU Brentwood focuses on education and information science, offering programs through the following departments:

  • Counseling and Development
  • Curriculum and Instruction
  • Special Education and Literacy
  • Library and Information Science
  • Criminal Justice
  • Business

About 15 master’s degree programs and certificates are available, providing many options for specialization. In addition to its graduate academics, the Brentwood campus offers a bachelor’s degree program in Criminal Justice. This is an upper-level program designed for transfer students.

For students applying to the Criminal Justice program, LIU Brentwood requires a minimum college GPA of 2.0. Admissions requirements for graduate programs vary, based on the type of applicant and program of choice.

Long Island University’s Brentwood campus offers many scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students. Federal financial aid is also available. To apply for financial aid, LIU Brentwood recommends filing a FAFSA by March 1.

Most scholarships and grants are based on merit, but some take additional criteria into consideration. For example, the Brentwood Undergraduate Dollar Grant for Easing Tuition is based on financial need as well as academic excellence.
