The mission of CET is based on a philosophy of self-determination. CET seeks to promote the human development and education of low income people by providing them with marketable skills training and supportive services that contribute to economic self-sufficiency.

The Center for Employment Training (CET) is one of the country's largest, most effective employment training programs, focused on those who need help the most. A nonprofit organization, CET was established and headquartered in San Jose, CA in 1967 and has grown to a national network of 33 educational centers in 12 states. Working in joint venture with the private sector, CET has successfully trained and placed more than 100,000 people over the last 35 years.

The El Centro CET office offers training programs for a variety of skills including

Counseling, job development and administrative services are also housed within the Third Street complex.

Located in the midst of one of the highest density low-income neighborhoods in El Centro, this large facility on Third Street has served California's Imperial County for some 21 years and has repeatedly demonstrated its capacity to serve hundreds of students in job-skills training.

CET's El Centro training facility is located at 294 South Third Street, El Centro and consists of six buildings, (each approximately 2,100 sq feet) and one other renovated building (6,000 sq feet). Vocational and job-skills training is provided in these buildings as well as some outdoor space within the overall complex.
