EI began in 1996 in order to provide comprehensive training in makeup technnique for film, to contrast the generally practiced system of apprenticeships at the time. In the ensuing years, EI received approval from the California State Department of Education (BPPVE) with approval to train Veterans, and accreditation from the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology (ACCSCT). New and more extensive training has been added to provide students with expert training in every aspect of makeup artistry, including:
