Northern Essex Community College (NECC) in Haverhill, Massachusetts educates and trains residents of all ages and backgrounds living in the Merrimack Valley.

Academics at NECC consist of more than 90 degree and certificate programs. Subject areas include liberal and performing arts, sciences, education, criminal justice, deaf studies, paralegal studies, business and health-related fields among others.

NECC’s students may earn a career-based degree intended to prepare them for the workforce or a degree in preparation for a transfer to a four-year university.

A combination of high school aged, young adult and mature adult students attend NECC. Since students’ needs and educational backgrounds differ there are classes to meet a range of interests. In addition to standard academics, there are developmental classes in basic skills, courses for professionals who wish to improve work skills and classes of personal interest.

Schedules are also designed to meet the various needs and lifestyles of NECC’s students, with classes offered during the day, in the evening and online, with part-time and full-time options available.

Student life also caters to a range of interests and includes an ambassador program, student government, community service options and professional, cultural, creative and religious organizations.

Applications for admission may be obtained at one of NECC’s information sessions which prospective students are required to attend.
