Bismarck State College, a Learning First college, provides a high quality learning-centered education that maximizes student learning and makes students partners in their education. As a comprehensive community college in the North Dakota University System, Bismarck State College offers broad-ranging, flexible, and innovative educational opportunities. We participate in partnerships that promote economic development, we provide cultural enrichment, and we champion integrity, citizenship, and the improvement of life through lifelong learning.

Bismarck State College, the fourth largest college in the North Dakota University System, is a comprehensive community college providing student-centered learning in these areas: transfer courses, technical programs, online classes and programs, corporate and continuing education, and workforce training.

BSC provides the first two years of education toward a bachelor's degree in nearly any field. Students earn an associate in arts or an associate in science degree. Students can choose from more than 35 technical programs that prepare them for entry-level placement in specific careers. Completion leads to a program certificate, program diploma or associate in applied science degree.

Bismarck State College provides students with several choices for out of the classroom activities. Participating in campus activities will help enhance your time at BSC as well as help you participate in the college community.

Bismarck State College, the state’s largest community college, is located on a beautiful hilltop campus overlooking the Missouri River. The campus consists of nine buildings on 107 acres. Two buildings under construction are the National Energy Center of Excellence and Lidstrom Hall, a student residence. Completion for both facilities is scheduled in 2008.

Bismarck State College (BSC) (est. 1939), the third largest college in the North Dakota University System with approximately 3500 students, is a comprehensive community college that offers two-year, four-year. BSC offers the first two years of education toward a bachelor's degree in most fields. It offers 20+ bachelor's degree and several graduate programs in conjunction with other university system institutions. Approximately 35 technical programs are offered, and more than 150 courses are offered online. Unique to the institution are degrees in energy education, including power and process plant technology, ethanol training, nuclear power technology, and electric power technology.

Bismarck State College also offers technical degrees in areas ranging from network/system administration to web design.

Residence Life - Student Housing

There are three residence halls on campus - Swensen Hall (female), Werner Hall (male), and recently dedicated (2008) Lidstrom Hall (co-ed).

Student Life

Student activities are managed by the staff of the Student and Residence Life Office, located in the Student Union building on campus. Students can register for meal plans, request housing, visit the bookstore, sign up for intramurals or student government, and learn about the activities provided for them on and off campus. Dances, hypnotists, comedians, artists, barbecues, and tie-dye are popular events.
