Luna Community College - Las Vegas NM School Description

Luna Community College (LCC) is the only community college in northeastern New Mexico. LCC is located in the lower slopes of the majestic Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range overlooking the city of Las Vegas, New Mexico. LCC enjoys an outstanding reputation for its caliber of facilities, teaching methods, curricula, and dedication to excellence.

LCC has satellite centers in the northeasterner NM towns of Mora, Springer and Santa Rosa, New Mexico. These satellites, in addition to the main campus, serve participants of the Springer Municipal Schools, Maxwell Municipal Schools, and Santa Rosa Consolidated Schools, which are within Colfax and Guadalupe counties. LCC also has a presence in Pecos and Wagon Mound schools.

Luna Community College is an institution of higher learning committed to serving the changing needs of its student population and the surrounding communities. Its mission is to provide comprehensive education, preparations for relevant employment, and opportunities for life-long learning.

Participants in athletics, extra-curricular activities and professional organizations are invigorating the college. Our athletes are striving to be respectful, well conditioned and highly competitive. Those participating in extra-curricular activities are doing so with enthusiasm, commitment to serving others and reinforcing the Luna legacy. Members of the college’s professional organizations are treating the preparation for their induction ceremonies with decorum and true meaning, preparing for the communication with the community series with intellectual depth and meeting their certificate and degree pathway with serious study. Overall, student life is flourishing and staff is being energized by the student’s curiosity and thirst for learning.

Luna Community College is based just outside of Las Vegas but the school also runs satellite campuses all over northeastern New Mexico. The main campus is located on what used to be the Maximiliano Luna National Guard Armory.

Our direction is focused on challenging the intellect, thinking outside the globe and mastering vocational and academic skills to apply the theory and practices learned at good paying jobs. That means; we need better than $10 an hour paying jobs, skilled labor forces and the ability to attract employers who will not only invest in land and buildings but also in our most precious resource, people!
