Description
East Los Angeles College is a great starting point for Southern California students seeking transfer to a larger California university and a great destination for those seeking an in-demand career. East Los Angeles College is located in Monterey Park, just east of downtown and south of Pasadena. Students come from such places as Boyle Heights, downtown Los Angeles and cities throughout the San Gabriel Valley. Many also come from such cities as Whittier and Downey.
East LA College offers a number of associate’s degree programs leading to careers in medical, law enforcement, technical and other fields. Its nursing program is particularly popular and, therefore, quite competitive.
Many East students also elect to transfer to such universities as Cal State Los Angeles, Cal State Fullerton, UCLA, UCSD and others throughout the UC and Cal State systems.
To help you choose which path is best for you, East offers transfer and career counseling. Transfer Services also provides university fairs throughout the year.
All students may benefit from learning services offered at East’s Writing and Math Labs, which include workshops and tutoring. Other services include those designed for Veterans and disabled students, such as access to note-takers and other accommodations to assist with learning.
Financial aid offerings for eligible students include loans, grants and veteran’s benefits and may help students pay for tuition as well as books.
