Description

Garden City Community College (GCCC) in Garden City, Kansas is particularly well-respected for its nursing program, which is unique in its educational approach.

With accreditation from state and national agencies, GCCC’s nursing program uses a “ladder approach.” In other words, all nursing students first receive a Nursing Assistance certificate and then have the option to continue towards the RN degree.

In addition to this program, GCCC offers associate’s degrees through distinctive academic divisions. The business and information systems division awards degrees or certificates in such subject areas as Accounting and Business Administration.

Degrees in Communications, Drama and Music are among those awarded by the humanities and fine arts division, and the technical education division offers degrees and certifications in such high-demand fields as Cosmetology, Criminal Justice, Emergency Medical Services and Fire Science.

Other academics at Garden City Community College include administrative services, science and math, and social sciences. GCCC also has a continuing education department, which offers adult learning options, small business development and community education and services.

Since GCCC has seen growth over the past decade or so, additional classrooms with upgraded technology have improved the quantity and quality of learning.

While GCCC offers traditional student service offerings such as career and academic counseling GCCC’s growth has led to an improved and expanded student center and student services buildings.

Residence halls and student apartments are another way that GCCC has grown, giving students the option to now live on campus and take part in the school’s active student life.

GCCC’s growing athletics division is particularly well known and now includes a stadium, a softball facility, a baseball practice and football practice area, a running track and multiple soccer fields.
