Question: Laboratory Institute of Merchandising? Is it hard to get into? Is it a good school overall?18 months ago
Best AnswerPeterson's Online lists LIM as Moderately Difficult: in other words, they don't let everyone in, but it's not super-hard like an Ivy. Based on their profile on Peterson's ( http://www.petersons.com/ugchannel/code/IDD.asp?orderLineNum=922355-2&reprjid=12&inunId=7066&typeVC=INSTVC&sponsor=1 ) it sounds like they care most about your interview, but that other factors, like personal essay and SAT scores, do matter somewhat. LIM isn't as well-known, say, as FIT, but its location in New York City is a huge benefit. Their site does also point out that 90% of graduates obtain jobs in their field within 6 months, which is amazing. |
Question: Is the Laboratory Institute of Merchandising a good school? Thanks!!?I was looking around at colleges, and I am very interested in fashion, and LIM had alot more classes that I am interested in such as event planning that FIT didn't have. I also am under the impression that in FIT I can only major in one thing and cannot take classes in any other field, and in LIM I can. Please correct me if I am wrong and let me know any information you have about these colleges. Thank You!23 months ago
Best AnswerI'm actually looking into the same thing. I plan on applying for the spring 2009 semester. I had wanted to go to FIT for a couple of years but then I was at a college fair and I talked to people from LIM and it sounds like a really good school. People assume that FIT is better because it is more established but I think that is just because LIM is focused on the buisness aspect rather than fashion design. LIM is also a lot easier to get into although it is a bit more expensive. And your right at FIT you can only have one major whereas at LIM you can take a major and a minor or you can double-major. Also at LIM it will be a lot more indiviualized because it is a much smaller school. Both are great schools and it just depends on what is a better fit for you. Good luck!! |
