School Description
Provided by CUNY Queensborough Community CollegeQueensborough reflects the uniqueness of the local Queens community - the most diverse county in the United States. Our students have specific academic and career goals, and Queensborough Community College serves an integral part in fulfilling those goals.
The College is dedicated to academic excellence and to the development of the whole individual in an environment that promotes intellectual inquiry, global awareness, and lifelong active learning. Queensborough is committed equally to open-admission access for all learners and to academic excellence within an environment of diversity.

Question: Is Queensborough Community College in NY a good school?Need some help choosing a college to attend18 months ago
Best AnswerAll community colleges (CCs) are generally the same. Many CCs host transfer admission guarantee programs (take condensed G.E. courses and maintain a minimum GPA.. usually 2.8 or 3.0) with 4-year universities in their state - look into that. To truly determine whether a CC is good or not, you need to look into their funding and the variety and amount of classes that are offered. Some CCs have a smaller student body (which usually equates to less funding) and hence, a smaller course offering. I did a quick google search of Queensborough, and it seems to be a decent institution. If you do plan on transferring, don't pay attention to "transfer rates;" they're useless numbers. Since most transfers are based upon the IGETC program or TAG (transfer admission guarantee), the ability to transfer is decided by the individual. |
Question: Hello i am a Cuny student at queensborough community college...I want to take a online course at Hostos.?SO i want to take a online class at hostos...since there both in cuny will they allow me to do it? I dont want it to transfer over or anything ....I just want to take the class I was wondering will they stop me and say im takign classes at another cuny school? Im paying for it out of pocket too...31 months ago
Best AnswerYou can probably do it if it's a course not offered at Queensborough and if you have the department chair's permission. Before Arabic was offered at Hunter I know students got permission to take it at John Jay for language credit. Get to know the department chair that would supervise the class you want, explain how the class will help you in your major or in satisfying any core curriculum requirements, and if you can, show him/her a syllabus of the class you want so that he/she can evaluate it. If the department chair still says no, maybe you can take it over the summer instead. The credits will most likely still count toward graduation but probably not for your major. Good luck. |
Question: Which one is better-queensborough community college and York College Cuny?I am going to study Graphic design31 months ago
Best AnswerWell Queensborough is only a 2 year school, I might be going there this Fall. They have ths awesome program called ASAP, the neighborhood is kinda boring but very neat and safe. The campus is nice and the level of diversity among students is good. York College is a 4 year school, so you may want to go there if you do not want to go through the Transferring process. Although I dont like the neighborhood and the diversity is pretty low. I think Queensborough would be an overall better choice. Then you can transfer to another school after spending 2 years there and the tuition is lower than York! |
