Description

In the Abingdon, Virginia area, earning an associate’s degree or certificate of completion can be as simple as attending two years of an informational, academic experience at Virginia Highlands Community College.

Among the programs available to study are General Education, Accounting and Information Systems Technology, Business Administration, Health Information Technology, Web Programming and Design, Hospitality and Tourism, Horticulture Technology, Dental Hygiene, Nursing, and Occupational Therapy Assistant.

When you have completed your two-year program, if you still wish to continue on your education at a four year institution you can enter the transfer center, where counselors can point your toward all the requirements you will need to fulfill to transfer onwards and upwards.

Students who complete the FAFSA, a free financial aid application, will apply for loans, grants, and work-study programs that can help cover the expenses of tuition. There is also the Hope Scholarship and VHCC Foundation Scholarships, among many more.

The Arts Array Series, which features foreign and independent films, lectures, concerts, cultural events, and museums exhibits, is just one of the many student life experiences. There is also a selection of student clubs, athletic programs, and a student government.
