Among its offerings, Yakima Valley Community College (YVCC) in Yakima, Washington has combined degree programs that provide specialized training for in-demand technical careers. One of the oldest community colleges in the state of Washington, Yakima Valley Community College offers associate’s degrees, certificates, diplomas and non-credit classes leading to employment, college transfer and development of academic and professional skills.
YVCC’s co-op degree program is one of its more unique features. This degree program allows students the opportunity to receive specialized training at both YVCC and Perry Technical Institute.
These programs lead to associate’s degrees and careers in Electrical Technology, Industrial Electronics, Machine Technology, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning and Heating Technology.
YVCC also grants traditional career-oriented degrees and diplomas in such fields as Medical Assisting, Nursing, Radio Broadcasting, Dental Hygiene, Surgical Technology, TV/Video Production and Veterinary Technology, among others.
Associate’s degrees leading to college transfer include those in Astronomy, Biology, Drama, Early Childhood Education, Economics, Engineering, Natural Sciences, Psychology and Speech.
The Counseling and Advising Center at YVCC helps students with a variety of personal, academic and career-based challenges. Whether it’s short-term personal counseling, counseling regarding which career to choose, workshops on test-taking or transfer advising, YVCC’s Counseling and Advising Center offers it.
Other services include private tutoring and assistance through the writing center.
Financial aid is also offered to those who qualify and options such as grants and loans may be discussed with a financial aid counselor at the school.
