CLU Description

Students who gain admission to Cal Lutheran are often not only high academic achievers, but have also demonstrated a commitment to extracurricular activities and community service. The main reason for this is that Cal Lutheran is a school that is committed to an integrated educational experience.

Located in the beautiful city of Thousand Oaks, at the base of Southern California’s mountains and only thirty minutes from downtown Los Angeles, Cal Lutheran grants bachelor’s degree in more than 65 majors and minors.

Business, Teacher Training, Liberal Arts, Humanities, Social and Natural Sciences and Performing and Fine Arts are some of the areas of study available at Cal Lutheran.

Academics are certainly the core of the Cal Lutheran experience and are rigorous and challenging. Also, since Cal Lutheran is committed to educating critical thinkers, classes are conducted as analytical discussions and debates. Since they are small and taught only by full-fledged professors, classes also have a high level of discussion and intellectual discovery.

However, since Cal Lutheran believes in nurturing its students in all ways, they also provide and encourage spiritual exploration through campus religious activities as well as through participation in Cal Lutheran’s student activities, which include a campus newspaper, a student choir, student government, social groups and community service organizations. Festivals and celebrations honoring everything from Dia de Los Muertos to Kwanzaa are also held throughout the year.

Financial aid packages are available to qualifying students who need help paying for tuition and related expenses.
