Oklahoma City University, abbreviated OCU, is a coeducational, urban private university located in Oklahoma City, in the Midtown district. The university is affiliated with the United Methodist Church and offers a wide variety of degrees in the liberal arts and sciences disciplines. The university has more than 3,500 undergraduate students. OCU is the only Oklahoma institution listed in the top tier of the regional, master level university category by U.S. News and World Report magazine's "America's Best Colleges" issue. It is currently ranked as 23-rd among Master's Universities in the West region.
OCU offers a wide selection of fine arts and theatre amenities. The university hosts many theatre, musical, and dance events for the community each year, including a Christmas event. The most recent addition to the campus of OCU is the world acclaimed Wanda L. Bass School of Music, in which guests can hear the Oklahoma City University Symphony Orchestra perform the likes of Mozart and Beethoven and see La Boheme performed by the OCU Musical Theatre Company. Students of OCU have performed in various parts of Asia including Malaysia, Singapore and the People's Republic of China. Jo Rowan and John Bedford have brought students from OCU to perform for Royalties and Ministers of Malaysia, Singapore and China. In Kuala Lumpur they have raise hundred of thousands of dollars for various charitable organisations including the Malaysian Red Cross/Crescent, The Spastic Children's Association of Selangor and the Federal Territory, The Tun Abdul Hamid Scholarship foundation and the National Heart Institute.
