I have lived in St Louis City all of my life. I'm not going to act like there isn't crime, but if you are careful you should be fine. The area around SLU is really hit or miss, but most of south and mid city is also block to block. North city is pretty sad and blighted, but I used to teach up in North city and parked my car on the street everyday and never had a problem. There are a lot of very nice families that raise their children in the city, but you know people in the suburbs act like we are all criminals. Because of that stereotype and alot of poverty most decent shopping centers are in the suburbs. However, there are many fine eateries and fun places to go in the city. SLU is an excellent school, and as long as you don't do anything stupid, like walk around at midnight or park your lexus on MLK, you'll be fine.
I am going to Saint Louis University (SLU) this fall, but I want to know if its a good school. It sounds good from everything I found out about it but I want to hear another person's opinion. Has anyone gone there are is there right now?

I am pretty familair with SLU actually. I am from Missouri and I am applying for my graduate program there. I have done some research, and they are pretty decent. Of course, it depends on what program you are going for, since most colleges are better in some fields then others. I am considering a Masters in Urban Planning and Real Estate Development, and they have an excellent program in that field. I believe their medical program is really good too, pre-med or nursing. Their business school is pretty good, not as good as some obviously, but not too bad at all and certainly better then some schools (Webster University, Maryville University, and even some University of Missouri schools). Again, it would be easier if I knew what field you were going into. However, I have to say you probably made a very good choice. If I could go back and choose a different undergraduate school, SLU would probably be one of the top choices for me.

Hey, i go to saint louis university school of law. I did not do my undergraduate work here at SLU (pronounced sloo), but i know SLU has a great reputation. Our campus is gorgeous and it is in the heart of st. louis. There are plenty of fun things to see and do that are near the campus. SLU is actually the first university to be founded in the United States that is west of the Mississippi River. It has a long history of great academics. I think you would really enjoy this school. Only flaw: very expensive. I hope you have scholarships. Good luck.
