Mountwest Community and Technical College in Huntington, West Virginia offers specialized career training and professional development, as well as professional degrees and degrees leading to four-year transfer.

Mountwest’s Inland Waterways Academy is its most unique program. This very specialized training division offers courses for those wishing to learn or improve skills as a deckhand or steersman.

The cooking and culinary institute at Mountwest also offers specialized professional training. These courses are geared towards helping people who wish to become professional chefs as well as training those who have a personal interest in cooking.

Mountwest also offers associate degree programs leading to such in-demand careers as Medical Transcription, Dental Assisting, Pharmacy Tech, Automotive Technology and Firefighting.

Other associate degree programs, such as those offered in liberal arts, humanities and natural and social sciences lead to four-year university or college transfers.
