offer education by qualified professionals; and
prepare students for career entry, placement, and growth in their respective fields.
The Art Institute of Atlanta is one of The Art Institutes, a system of over 40 For-Profit Colleges located in major cities throughout North America, all owned and operated by Education Management Corporation. As of 2005, these 40 Art Institutes have graduated over 150,000 students, educating students in the creative and applied arts, including design, media, fashion, and culinary arts.
The Art Institute of Atlanta was founded in 1949 as Massey Business College, with diploma programs in basic business and secretarial skills. The school added liberal arts, fashion, and interior design during the next two decades. After becoming The Art Institute of Atlanta in 1975, the college shifted its focus to a creative applied arts curriculum. Accreditation by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools soon followed. In 1999, the college moved to its current location; a 5-story building in Sandy Springs and has since expanded to a second building across the street. In 2004, the school added Audio Production to their growing list of programs. The newest program, Fashion & Retail Management, was added in January 2007.
AiAtlanta is currently located at 6600 Peachtree Dunwoody Rd. in Atlanta, Georgia. The student body is numbers 3,200 as of fall 2007.
It awards associate's and bachelor's degrees, including Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degrees, Bachelor of Arts (BA) degrees, and Bachelor of Science (BS) degrees, and also offers diploma and non-degree programs.

Correction: Art Institute of Atlanta is an accredited school. Don't make assumptions before doing your homework.
But I do agree that getting a degree in computer science from an university is probably a better idea, and cheaper too. The best thing to do is to build up your portfolio by creating design documents and sample programs so you can really get your foot in the door.

I was thinking about Going To the Art Institute of Atlanta for my Associate in Arts Degree and then transferring to a University for my Bachelors degree.....does this seem like a smart move, or should I just go to the Art institute for the whole thing? Has anyone attended this school? Is it accelerated or is it like a normal college, I prefer not accelerated...

Do some careful research about which program you want to study, and whether coursework at the art institute would transfer to another school--it might not, which would mean you'd have to basically start all over if you wanted a four year degree.
If you think you want a four-year degree, I would begin by selecting the schools where you would want to study. Talk to them about enrolling, about transferring, and about whether the Art Institute courses are transferable. Even if they are, you should still be careful, because depending on your program area and the strength of your portfolio and of the school you transferred from, many four year universities will expect you to start their program from it's beginning (meaning sophomore year usually) so you still might need three years to complete that degree even if you have an associates degree.
Ask alot of questions. The art institutes are great at recruiting and they sound glamorous to high school students, but the quality of the education can be iffy. It's a chain of for-profit schools. . . so do your homework before you commit to it. Good luck!

Question:
Art Institutes? Are they any good?
I want to major in Interior Design.
I just wanted to know if the Art Institutes (specifically the Art Institute of Washington) were any good. And do companies really like the art institues when they hire you, or are they looking for some really flashy school. Because AI comes off as a trade school to me, and not a really dignified school

Actually AI schools are some of the best. Art is one of the few careers in which having attended a career school is an advantage over a traditional University.
