Question: University of Pittsburgh Vs Pennsylvania State University?

University of Pittsburgh Vs Pennsylvania State University, which has more reputation and better for an IT Phd?

Best Answer

Both are good universities -- but Penn State is ranked much higher. Penn State would be a little better for an undergraduate -- but much better for a PhD

Question: Would being accepted at Pennsylvania State University be a big deal?

I am not from this country and not familiar with how the schools rank or what kind of reputation they may have, would Pennsylvania State University be a big deal if I was accepted?

Best Answer

A degree from Penn State is usually well-respected, but to be perfectly honest it's not a particularly selective school, so it wouldn't really be a big deal to get in for most people. Like someone else mentioned, if you want to go to a school that would be a "big deal," try for UPenn, since that's an ivy league school.
