Overall

I attended Davis College when it was Practical Bible Training School.. Since then, the school has changed names become accredited and continues to grow..My best times were questioning my professors on why they believed what they did. At that time, I thought they were (to be nice) elderly, now I'm as old or older than they were.. I often remember destroying the old 'main' building so a new one could be constructed. My fondest memory was when I was unable to return to school for my 2nd year because I had been injured and could not raise the money.. I called and talked to the president's wife. She then contacted several people that she knew and raised the needed finances for me to return (NOT a loan as long as I did well)..Tips..Be honest about yor desires and needs

Academics

Class ratio about 18-24:1. classes/programs often involved outside participation.. all single students were required to help with the upkeep of the buildings, doing dishes, etc. We also had opportunity to make money @ the school. I ironed clothes for students who didn't know how, another classmate cut hair at 25 cents a cut, while a third worked on vechicles (both private and schools). The professors, though strict, were many times as much for a good time as the students ( we really didn't pull the wool over their eyes like we thought). One professor would warn us about an upcoming exam and then spend the time showing the class how to play certain parts classical music on the piano.

College Life

Being the kind of school we were, social clubs were few.. We had several different prayer groups and leadership groups. Many gospel (singing) and evangelistic teams were formed, individuals and groups sang weekly on our raido programs while we had student speakers (upper classmen) Campus safety was never a problem, maybe it was the time period. The only major sport we had was basketball, however, we had many top players from high schools around the country. Students who didn't go home for the weekend were to do some 'spiritual' work.Every Friday underclassmen went to 'town' to hold 'streetmeetings', headed by the juniors and seniors. If possible, students were asked to participate in some position within their church. Some have had experience with Billy Graham and other top evangelists (at LEAST one is the president of a top Bible college in the east.

I love the close-knit atmosphere amongst the students at Davis College, and I know you will too. Our faculty are very approachable, and often spend time with students outside of class, at meals, during office hours, and even in their homes. As a fully accredited Bible college, our focus is on Christ. Offering 8 concentrations in varying ministry areas, Davis is designed to help you get prepared for wherever life takes you... on the mission field, your hometown, local church ministry, the workplace, or on to graduate school! Our staff is friendly and available as well, so please don't hesitate to call and make a phone or face-to-face visit! (607)729-1581 ext. 341.

Classes are typically 8 - 15 students in size, though some freshman classes are larger. Even in your largest classes though, you professor will do their best to know your name and be available to you outside of class. If you have questions or are struggling with a particular subject, we encourage you to meet with you professor or one of the many free tutors available in the Academic Success Center. We want to see you succeed!

College Life

There's always lots to do in the local area, from hiking to ethnic restaurants, the Binghamton Art Walk to the health club (our students are members!), to Bubble Tea and bowling. In addition, every student has the opportunity to serve in the local area throughout every semester. A few hours of Student Ministry is a required part of your studies, so get ready to find a place to get connected - whether it's at your church's youth group, a local non-profit like the Life Choices Pregnancy Center, a local Missions board, the Boys and Girls club, etc! The possibilities are endless. On-campus, we offer intercollegiate intramurals in Indoor Soccer and Volleyball. About 60% of our on-campus student participate! There's always something to do at our best-kept-secret Broadway Cafe as well. Campus security is posted nightly.
