Description
Tidewater Community College, one of the largest and most technologically advanced community colleges in the United States, is particularly geared towards degrees in the sciences and technology. Tens of thousands of students are enrolled annually at Tidewater Community College, which has campuses across Virginia in Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth and Virginia Beach as well as numerous cultural arts offerings including visual and performing arts centers.
Associate degree offerings at Tidewater can be categorized in the sciences and in technological fields, such as engineering and industrial technologies, social sciences, health professions and information technology. Also categorized primarily into technology and science-based fields are Tidewater’s certificate programs.
Tidewater has been recognized for utilizing the most advanced technologies in the learning process. Its massive Advanced Technology Center (ATC) is proof of this. An award-winning, 137,000 square-foot, $22.5 million-dollar facility, the ATC provides the most advanced, innovative training for those studying the industrial and engineering fields.
Tidewater also has several program offerings in arts, languages and public service fields. All of Tidewater’s departments offer online or distance learning options as well.
The College of William and Mary, University of Virginia, Norfolk State University and James Madison University are some of the schools with which Tidewater has transfer agreements.
Counseling for career, educational and personal matters is available to all students. Work-study, grants, loans and scholarships are available for financial aid and contingent upon eligibility and maintenance of a certain GPA.
