Cal Arts Description

The first school to offer BFA and MFA degrees, California Institute of the Arts (Cal Arts) prides itself on artistic innovation and high rankings.

Located in Valencia, CA, about 40 minutes from downtown Los Angeles, Cal Arts’ programs in the visual arts, including those in photography and graphic design, have been ranked within the top ten by U.S. News & World Report.

Cal Arts offers BFA and MFA degrees in other artistic disciplines as well, including Dance, Film, Theatre Performance and Creative Writing.

Highly innovative in its approach, Cal Arts also has specialized programs in such specific artistic disciplines as puppetry. Another of their unique and innovative offerings is the interdisciplinary program whereby students study different artistic disciplines and can earn a degree for both.

The innovation at Cal Arts also extends into the way that art is practiced. All forms of experimentation and artistic boldness are encouraged across all disciplines.

Financial aid at Cal Arts is available to eligible students and is primarily obtained through student loans, grants and scholarships.
