Description

Louisiana Technical College has long served residents throughout the state by offering hands-on education in technical and trade professions.

One of 40 campuses, the Oakdale campus of LTC provides preparation for vocational areas like:
*Business Office Technology
*Carpentry
*Emergency Medical Technology
*Pharmacy Technology
*Welding

The Oakdale campus of Louisiana Technical also offers the CENLA/CLTC program, which is designed exclusively for unemployed or under-employed workers who wish to improve their skills and become more marketable in the workforce.

All of LTC’s courses provide comprehensive, real-world training, teaching students through the actual performance of their trade. A cosmetology student will, for example, spend time working in a salon clinic and a student in the automotive division will repair cars.

In addition to its professional programs, Oakdale provides basic skills training in math and reading. There is also a course for GED prep.

Students who need assistance with tuition costs may apply for financial aid by filling out a FAFSA. Once a student’s eligibility is determined, based mainly on financial need, Pell grants and loans will be awarded. There are also certain tuition waivers for those experiencing financial hardship.

Admission requirements include proof of a high school diploma or GED and the passing of an entrance exam.
