UTPA Description
A constituent school of the vast UT System, the University of Texas – Pan American (UTPA) primarily serves students in the Rio Grande Valley area of southern Texas. As a result of its location, UTPA has a diverse student body, making college life at the university a vibrant, culturally enriching experience.
The University of Texas – Pan American’s academics are also quite diverse. The university offers more than 110 degree programs through several academic units:
- College of Arts and Humanities
- College of Business Administration
- College of Education
- College of Engineering and Computer Science
- College of Health Sciences and Human Services
- College of Science and Mathematics
- College of Social and Behavioral Sciences
In addition to bachelor’s and master’s degree programs, UTPA also a handful of doctorates, including International Business and Rehabilitation Counseling.
Financial aid at UTPA is available in many forms. In addition to state and federal aid programs, the university offers need-based grants and merit-based scholarships. Make sure to file the FAFSA by the prescribed deadline for maximum financial aid consideration.
UTPA’s admissions requirements include a minimum SAT score of 18 or an 860 on the SAT. If you graduated from a Texas high school in the top 10% of your class or earned an IB diploma, you will receive automatic admission.
