Description
Looking for an education in the medical field, and a change of scenery? American University of Antigua (AUA) School of Medicine is located in the Caribbean, neighboring white sand beaches, in one of the most diverse and sought-after destinations in the world. The school was opened in 2004 and has one of the only medical programs in the Caribbean that offers a curriculum in two semesters per calendar year. This system is modeled after the U.S. system and, as a result, students often find it easier to complete their residencies in California or New York.
AUA’s four-year MD degree requires a minimum number of college course credits, so they encourage applicants to obtain a related degree from an accredited undergraduate institution.
AUA is one of the only colleges of veterinary medicine, and certain students get the chance to earn a DVM from Virginia-Maryland Regional College. They also have a college of nursing and offer an associate degree in Nursing.
Some of the features of AUA:
*Advising and counseling services
*Contact with patients from Mount St. John’s Medical Centre
*Financial aid and scholarships available to those who qualify
*One of North America’s largest simulation labs
If you are excited at the prospect of going to medical school outside of the U.S., you should definitely take a look at American University of Antigua School of Medicine.
