Cossatot Community College of the University of Arkansas is a two-year college nestled in the foothills of the Ouachita Mountains of southwest Arkansas. As one of the fastest-growing small colleges in the United States, CCCUA has expanded from the main campus in De Queen to add extension sites in Nashville and Ashdown. We’re also one of the newest members of the University of Arkansas System. Classes are also offered through a number of area high schools, and on-site in spaces provided by business and industry. Since 1975, we’ve been helping people learn more, so they can live better. You have choices in education, so class schedules at CCCUA are prepared with the specific goal of meeting your needs. On-campus classes are generally conducted Monday through Thursday between 8:00am and 9:00pm. Classes are also offered on weekends, via the Internet, and through satellite transmissions.

Cossatot Community College-UA, an institution of higher education, is a public two-year college located in Southwest Arkansas and is dedicated to serving students who wish to achieve academic, personal, or career goals. The College seeks to encourage in each student the values essential for effective citizenship; the desire for lifelong learning; the techniques for applying knowledge and skills to personal, career, and community life challenges; and an understanding that all individuals have worth and potential.

A caring, qualified faculty is available for consultation and advice after class. In addition, our Student Services staff regularly goes the extra mile to assist students with scheduling, financial aid, counseling, and other services.

The Kimball Library on the De Queen campus is a pleasant place for studying, doing research, or reading for pleasure. The upper story of this building houses our new Donn Allison Technology Center, with five computer labs, an interactive video classroom, Bookstore, and other features.

The campus of Cossatot Community College - UA in De Queen is divided into eleven separate buildings and areas. These buildings contain approximately 60,000 square feet, and are completely air-conditioned, with the exception of the Trade and Industry shops and the warehouse. Modern equipment, as well as the latest in teaching and audio-visual technology, are available to students. As the need arises and funds become available, the facilities are expanded and improved.

The Pilgrim-Cossatot Learning Center in De Queen is sponsored jointly by the College and Pilgrim's Pride, and offers classes in English as a Second Language and Adult Basic Education. An additional Adult Eduation Center is located at 104 South Fifth Street in De Queen.

Cossatot Community College of the University of Arkansas (CCCUA) is a public community college serving southwest Arkansas. Its main campus is located in the foothills of the Ouachita Mountains in De Queen, Arkansas.

History

CCCUA was established in 1975 as a division of the University of Arkansas. Its original purpose was to serve as a location for basic vocational education in southwest Arkansas. It has since been expanded to offer technical certificates in three areas, certificates of proficiency in sixteen areas, and full associates degrees in ten areas.

Governance

CCCUA is governed by a nine-member Board of Visitors.

Campus Locations

CCCUA currently maintains three campuses, the main campus in De Queen and two extension campuses in nearby Nashville and Ashdown.

De Queen (Main) Campus

The De Queen campus serves as CCCUA's main campus and is divided into eleven separate buildings and areas. These buildings contain approximately 60,000 square feet, and are completely air-conditioned, with the exception of the Trade and Industry shops and the warehouse. Modern equipment, as well as the latest in teaching and audiovisual technology, are available to students. The De Queen campus serves as an associate training center for the Arkansas Fire Academy.

Nashville Extension Site

An extension center in Nashville provides office and classroom space for a variety of credit and non-credit classes and special projects. This building has two fully-equipped computer labs.

Ashdown Extension Site

The Ashdown Extension is CCCUA's newest facility. This 53,640 sq. ft. facility houses numerous programs for CCCUA and the Ashdown community. It has four large lecture classrooms, a computer lab, a Computer Repair/CISCO lab, an Interactive video classroom, an Electrical Apprenticeship classroom, and a Hydraulics/Pneumatics classroom.

Educational Offerings

CCCUA offers both the Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degrees, which can be credited toward the first two years of a four-year degree program. The degrees consists of certain required courses and certain electives (which must be college transfer classes) in a specific focus area which will constitute the major.
