GWU Description
Gardner-Webb University is a private Christian university affiliated with the Baptist church. With an educational basis in the liberal arts, GWU aims to foster critical thinking, spiritual development and intellectual discourse.
GWU offers a variety of academics. Through more than 15 schools and departments, the university has nearly 60 fields of study from bachelor’s degrees to doctoral programs. Gardner-Webb also offers academic support for the local community, such as the GOAL degree completion program, and the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning.
Student life at Gardner-Webb is rich and vibrant. Most full-time students live on-campus, so residential life is bustling, and there are several clubs and organizations to get involved with.
To help the campus community grow spiritually, Gardner-Webb sponsors student ministries like The Verge and FOCUS. The university also plans mission trips during fall, spring and summer breaks, as well as local missions to give back to the community.
Because paying for college isn’t easy, Gardner-Webb’s Office of Financial Planning can help you find ways to fund your education. In addition to federal financial aid programs, the school offers extensive institutional scholarships based on GPA and test scores, athletic or artistic performance, and Christian service and leadership to eligible students.
