This is a commuter school with mostly students just out of high school. The quality of instructors vary. I found it extremely useful to use ratemyprofessors.com to research specific teachers after having a particularly bad one (in my opinion Mr. Darck, Math 107). There is a brand new science building, and there are some great teachers in that department. Carbone's Bio 31 class is very hard, but very good. For math, Henson, McHale, Melendez were great. Overall this is a beautiful campus. LPC has great resources for students with financial need with the Financial Aid department, and the EOPS program. I like that it is a "green" campus.

I have had a remarkable journey at Las Positas College to say the least. I was incredibly bummed to have started my college days out at a Junior College close to home. All my friends went off and were given the opportunity to live on the campus, move into the dorms, and meet new people while I went to a college two minutes away from my house. The way I saw it, I was missing out, no crazy life changes at all to be made. Before I knew it, there were drastic changes that occurred right before my eyes. I was suddenly needing to find it inside myself to grow up and mature, as college doesn't slow down for anyone. I put on my game face, and while all my friends had gone away, I made the best of my situation. Turns out, after all my sadness and throwing myself a pitty-party, a good chunk of students I went to High School with who had went away to school, were returning home to attend this college too. I thought to myself, "Maybe I did make the smartest decision after all!" I not only saved so much money, but I also love the campus, love the people, and really do enjoy the personal connections your able to make with your Professors. As I'm wrapping up my time here at Las Positas College, I look back at my experience and the two years I had attended there, which really felt like two months. The only regret I ever had, was the thought of regret at all. Thinking I made a wrong choice by attending this school was surely my own mistake. There were no wrong choices that had been made, no sad memories left behind, and most of all, no regrets at all.
