If you’re interested in a career in welding, then the John Lopez Welding School in Bakersfield, California, may be the place for you.

Each session contains 20 students or fewer, allowing for individual instruction. Educators are professional welders with at least 30 years of experience, ensuring that you receive only the most comprehensive welding training.

Academics include Plate Welding, Pipe Welding and TIG/MIG. During these courses, students will learn job safety, cutting and beveling manually and by machines. You’ll also become well-versed in other skills like blueprint reading, basic pipe fitting, plate welding in all positions and more.

Completion of these courses requires 420 hours, which takes approximately 11 weeks. Afterwards, students will be prepared to take the Journeymen Welding Test to receive a professional certificate in welding.

Admissions are open, allowing any student to apply. John Lopez reserves the right to address and assess the disabled if the school believes that training may not be beneficial.

The school provides job placement assistance to students who complete the program to both local and out-of-town contractors.

Financial aid is available to eligible students through the form of student loans, GI bills and others. Application forms are available through John Lopez’s website.
