The Deep Springs College in Dyer, Nevada, is an all-male, two-year liberal arts college situated on a cattle ranch and alfalfa farm in the High Desert of California. The school’s mission is to prepare students for a life of service to humanity.

The school is intentionally small, with classes often having fewer than 10 students, so that students and faculty members can form a close-knit community.

Academics at the college consist of intensive seminars and labor obligations. Typically, students spend mornings in class and the afternoon working.

Students have the freedom to choose their own schedule through course offerings in the humanities, social sciences, mathematics and natural sciences. The only required course is Public Speaking, as the school believes that, to effectively serve the community, students must be proficient in oral and written expression. To cultivate these skills, students give three speeches a semester.

Students interested in applying must take the SAT or ACT and complete the two-stage admissions application. For the first stage, you must submit an official high school transcript and three personal essays by November 7. By late December, students considered for admission will be contacted, after which they must submit two letters of recommendation and additional essays by January 15 and schedule a campus visit.

Financial aid is offered to eligible admitted students in the form of annual $50,000 scholarships, which cover the full cost of tuition.
