Pasco-Hernando Community College (PHCC) serves the educational needs and interests of our community. As a Read the 2007 Community Summit report [PDF]comprehensive, multi-campus community college, PHCC provides an accessible, diverse teaching and learning environment rich with opportunities for students to attain academic success and cultural growth. PHCC assists students at enhancing their knowledge, skills, abilities, and attitudes, and in developing as individuals and as citizens of a global society. PHCC will provide:
1. Associate degrees that will enable its students to continue their post-secondary education and earn a baccalaureate degree;
2. Associate in Science degrees, Associate in Applied Science degrees, technical certificates and diplomas in programs that will prepare its students to enter and advance in the workforce;
3. college-preparatory instruction, adult education/General Educational Development (GED) test preparation and testing, and continuing education that enhance and update the knowledge, skills, abilities, and attitudes of individuals;
4. services for students that enhance their opportunities for learning and success;
5. educational training, enhanced by the development of partnerships, that promotes and supports economic development and serves the community;
6. learning opportunities for cultural enrichment and personal development; and
7. an environment that fosters high ethical standards, openness, trust, respect, and fairness among all members of the college community.
Pasco-Hernando Community College (PHCC) is the newest two-year community college in Florida. With four campuses in Brooksville, Dade City, New Port Richey and Spring Hill, PHCC serves rural Pasco and Hernando counties in the central west coast of Florida.
PHCC was established in 1967 by the Florida Legislature and is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award the associate degree. In addition, the college offers many other certification programs in the fields of computer science, health occupations and law enforcement. One of the newest programs is the Educator Preparation Institute, an alternative teacher certification program.
PHCC also offers GED preparation classes to prepare students to test for the GED diploma and dual enrollment classes for high school students. Many students select the 2 year community college as an excellent alternative to higher priced 4 year institutions with the prospect of transferring.
