The Miami Lakes Educational Center in Miami Lakes, Florida, is one of the only three vocational and technical training centers in the area and the only school with a dual-delivery system in Miami-Dade County. The school offers adult vocational programs in conjunction with a high school.
The school’s media center boasts a large selection of materials to help complement your education. Some of the literature includes periodicals, technical books, automotive manuals and education tutorials.
Academics include training programs in a variety of fields. Some programs are in Advanced Automotive Technology, Commercial Foods and Culinary Arts, Electronic Technology and Practical Nursing.
Admissions require applicants to be at least 16 years of age for most programs. Incoming students are evaluated based on their skills in math, reading and language. Many programs require students to complete an interview with admissions and departmental representatives.
Tuition is set lower for Florida residents. Tuition costs do not cover the price of additional supplies and materials, books or application fees.
The school offers the District Financial Aid Program and Fee Waiver Program for students who demonstrate need. Other forms of financial aid include state programs like the Florida Pre-Paid College Fund and Florida Bright Future Scholarships, Pell grants, SEO grants and outside agency programs.
