Oklahoma State University - Stillwater School Description

Oklahoma State University is a multi-campus public land grant educational system that improves the lives of people in Oklahoma, the nation, and the world through integrated, high-quality teaching, research, and outreach. The instructional mission includes undergraduate, graduate, technical, extension, and continuing education informed by scholarship and research. The research, scholarship, and creative activities promote human and economic development through the expansion of knowledge and its application.

Today, in many circles of thought, diversity has become a four-letter word. While race is one of the words that come to mind, the others are often avoided in public circles. These words, and the actions that follow, confirm that many of us still become angry, threatened, or merely indifferent when issues regarding diversity emerge. Reactions such as these must diminish. We must prepare all of our students, and ourselves, to think and act in ways that will embrace and promote a more inclusive society. Diversity is an essential component of this preparation. Why are there continued efforts to fortify existing segregated silos of thought that will most assuredly weaken our world for decades to come? How can so many of us fail to understand the value that a variety of perspectives bring to any discussion focused on the betterment of our community, nation, and world? Will we ever understand that the harm being done will hurt all of us? When will we all open our eyes and hearts to the gift of difference?

Answers to these and similar questions must become important for each of us to address. Our very future hinges on what we do with our answers to these and similar questions. How we think and what we believe directs our actions. These actions will also direct our future.

$400 (low end) - $1000 per month for off campus villages (apartments, condos, etc.). I think OSU's on campus housing is in transition. I could not find a dollar figure or images for on campus housing.

Question: sororities at oklahoma state university?

so the day i move to osu is the day rush starts for osu and everyone i know has been making a big deal about joining and everything, and i have no idea about any of it, i was wondering if it would be a waste of my time to rush because im not sure if i want to do a sorority or not and what the good sororities are... thanks!

I think you're facing a decision that says alot about you: you don't know enough about sororities to be able to decide whether or not you would want to join or not and yet you're thinking about not going through the process??? C'mon. Since when is experiencing something for yourself, making your own observations, doing your own research, and thinking for yourself a bad thing???? There are lots of great sororities at OSU and the best advice I can give you is to go through rush with an OPEN mind and just follow your heart without worrying whether you're joining the "right" sorority. If you don't listen to anyone else and just do what feels right for you, you'll join the right sorority! Good luck!

The best way to find these things out is to call the registration and admissions office and start to get involved with the universities you're considering. This will do a couple things for you and here's why it's important to do this: In calling the registrars/admissions office, not only will they be able to answer that question, but if they DONT take the credits, they may be able to tell you a university locally that DOES take the credits you're looking to get....there's a GOLD MINE of information to be found by getting in and starting to call around. Very often the people in a registrars office have attended other universities or worked for other universities and have some good information. Also, I've found in calling around, I get a feel for how easy a university is to work with and get a better feel of whether I want to spend my time and money there. Also it will make you familiar to the Universities you're calling, familiarity opens doors that aren't open otherwise. Email me if you got questions! I love helping. But this one is best done yourself in person because it very much depends on WHAT you're transferring, and there's more to gain by calling.

Question: How's Oklahoma State University's degree programs?

I'm kinda waving among several engineering programs there... so, which engineering program is the best? and how's electrical engineer and architecture there?

Having interacted with OSU for a brief time in the capacity of an academic counselor, I can vouch that OSU has a phenomenal program in Engineering. All of their academic tracks are solid, but to answer your question, I will say that if you are interested in Architecture, you should apply to that avenue. Their Electrical Engineering program is great, but the Architecture program is quickly gaining a stellar reputation along the competitive lines of the University of Kansas (which is another great Midwestern school). The amazing thing about OSU is that they are trailblazing paths for other schools to follow. They've recently passed regulations to make the entire campus smoke-free and they have considered incentives for healthy living. That's pretty daunting, but their motive is noble. Aside from the peripherals, OSU has some of the best academic programs that I have seen in nearly 10 years of academic tenure. I'd recommend them highly, and subsequently, I would definitely recommend that you look into their programs. Good luck!

Can't tell you about the university but Stillwater is a nice city. Bunch of college bars and the crime rate is very low. It's not a big city so if you're used to lots of ammenities (sp?) then you will be somewhat disappointed.
