From Wikipedia, The Free EncyclopediaSaint Leo University is a private, non-profit, Roman Catholic university located in Saint Leo, Florida, near San Antonio, Florida, which is north of Tampa. Dr. Arthur F. Kirk, Jr. has been the president of the university since January 1997. It is associated with the Holy Name Monastery (Benedictine sisters; formerly known as Holy Name Priory), and Saint Leo Abbey (Benedictine monks).
Saint Leo's main campus is in a rural setting, but is not far from large cities such as Tampa, St. Petersburg and Orlando. It offers small class sizes taught by full-time faculty members: it employs no teaching assistants.
History
Saint Leo University is a Catholic, coeducational liberal arts university offering programs leading to associate and baccalaureate degrees and the Master of Business Administration, Master of Education and Master of Criminal Justice degrees. Chartered on June 4 1889, Saint Leo originated when the Florida legislature authorized the Order of St. Benedict of Florida to "have and possess the right and power of conferring the usual academic and other degrees granted by any college in this State."
As the first Catholic college in Florida, Saint Leo opened its doors with the dedication of its main building on September 14 1890. In this pioneer year, Saint Leo enrolled 32 students for classes. These students engaged in the study of the basic curriculum, which included a mix of liberal arts and commercial courses leading to the Master of Accounts degree. In addition to the basic curriculum, the College periodically went though a military phase, with uniforms and required drilling, to instill discipline and order. On June 20 1893, Saint Leo conferred the Master of Accounts degree on its first graduating class of five students.
In 1920, the College was phased out as the faculty decided to focus on becoming what one longtime Benedictine called "a serious English-style prep school." A year later, in 1921, Saint Leo became accredited by the Southern Educational Association. After several name changes, the institution settled on Saint Leo College Preparatory School in 1929. It lasted until 1964.

Last time this question didn't inspire enough detailed answers. One person told me the school's acceptance rate and another person gave me a really bland answer.

I am a couple days away from graduating from Saint Leo U. It is a wonderful school. It is smaller and personal compared to many universities. It is a great environment for learning and having fun. I'm a business major but Saint Leo offers much more. Many of the professors are downright wonderful and really help you. I think you'll love the school. They have campuses in Virginia also and a great online program. Best of luck to you!

It will give you a degree. The classes are convenient. I don't think, in my opinion, that you'll be able to do any advanced studying in , for example, physics or humanities, but you could get a business or accounting degree.

Saint Leo is a good school in a very beautiful location, but if you go there, it should be because going there would be the best thing for YOU, not just because your friend is going there.

Yes. St. Leo is a legitimate university up north of Tampa. I've been by their home campus. It is a small Catholic liberal arts college. However, today, most of their students are in their online and distance learning programs, as well as in branch campuses. This means that some employers will automatically assume if you have a St. Leo Univ. degree, that you got it online, and some employers might not like that.
But the school is definitely legit, and they supposedly do a fairly good job of maintaining course quality even with the online factor. It is fully accredited, which is far better than many of the other online schools, and generally has a decent reputation. So, if you're planning to do a degree online anyway, this is probably one of the better choices.
Best of luck to you.
