Description

Even if you don’t know Macalester College by name, you’re probably familiar with some of its alumni. The impressive list includes luminaries like diplomat Kofi Annan, musician Bob Mould and author Tim O’Brien.

Macalester’s prestigious academics are unique in their international focus. Studying abroad is an important part of student life at Macalester, and many of the college’s academic departments encourage global involvement, like:

  • African Studies
  • Asian Languages and Cultures
  • Community and Global Health
  • Human Rights and Humanitarianism
  • International Development
  • International Studies
  • Middle Eastern Studies and Islamic Civilization

Because Macalester believes that finances shouldn’t prevent you from receiving an education, the college meets all of its students’ demonstrated need. To apply for financial aid, complete the FAFSA and CSS Profile by the deadlines listed on Macalester’s website.

In line with its international focus, Macalester encourages students from around the world to apply for admissions. International students comprise nearly 20% of Macalester’s enrollment, with about 95 countries represented.

The application deadline for Regular Decision is January 15, and you’ll receive an admissions decision by March 30. Deadlines are the same for domestic and international students, with the exception of transfers; international transfer students must apply by January 15, while the deadline for domestic transfer students is April 15.
