UAS Description

University of Alaska Southeast in Juno, Alaska provides educational opportunities ranging from occupational certificates to master’s degrees. Student life opportunities are also numerous, ranging from arts and community service groups to outdoor activities that capitalize on the natural beauty of the area.

Known in particular for its graduate programs in education, UA Southeast grants master’s degrees in Elementary Education, Educational Technology, Secondary Education, Special Education and others.

Additional programs range from occupational endorsements in fields like Marine Transportation and Automotive Technology, to associate’s degrees in Business Administration and Nursing, to bachelor’s degrees in fine arts, liberal arts and the natural sciences.

Student activities and groups include ceramics and photography clubs, a student literary journal and newspaper, volunteer opportunities, and hiking, rock climbing and kayaking clubs, which give students the chance to explore their beautiful surroundings.

Those who wish to take time away from Juno may pursue one of UA’s exchange programs throughout the United States and in more than 50 countries.

Admission is based primarily on one’s academic record, including SAT or ACT scores and grades.

In addition to accepting grants, loans and work-study programs, UA Southeast’s financial aid office assists students with finding outside scholarships.
